Automated Ads are sponsor-read ads selected for you by the Spotify Audience Network.
Simply sign up, place your ad segments where you’d like in your episodes, and wait for your ads to roll in.

Any creator based in the United States can apply, but we can’t guarantee that all creators will be accepted. Selection criteria include unique listeners, listening hours, Spotify followers, and content that fits within Spotify ad guidelines.
Note: Automated Ads are only available to creators based in the United States.
How Automated Ads work
Automated Ads play during the ad slots you place in your episodes.
You can run other monetization tools alongside Automated Ads, including Ambassador Ads, Podcast Subscriptions, and Listener Support. If you're already running Ambassador Ads, up to one Automated Ad will play immediately after your Ambassador Ad if you have an ad slot.
To maximize your revenue, we recommend placing three separate ad slots in your episodes.
Note: Automated Ads can't be placed in Music + Talk episodes.
Excluding categories of ads
All ads are approved by Spotify and qualify under Spotify’s Ad Guidelines.
To provide more control over the types of ads that appear on your podcast, you can exclude certain categories:
- Go to the Automated Ads section of your Money page.
- Click Exclude categories.
- Deselect the categories of ads you don't want to run on your episodes.
Note: Excluding multiple categories may result in a reduction of the revenue you earn from Automated Ads as it reduces the overall number of available ads that can run on your episodes.
You can't select the exact ads that play in your episodes.
How you get paid with Automated Ads
Set up Spotify Payouts to receive your Automated Ads earnings.
Revenue is calculated for your previous month’s earnings and is paid out to you no later than 30 days after the month has ended. This means for the month of September, you’ll get paid by the end of October.
You’ll receive an email that notifies you of your earnings, including impressions sold and how your earnings have accumulated.
Deactivating Automated Ads
To stop your Automated Ads, click Deactivate under Automated Ads in your Money tab.
This will turn off Automated Ads in your episodes where there are ad slots. It may take up to 10 business days to reflect on external platforms.
